Hello!

I have come to address an issue that has gone on way before my avatar creation time—leaking files.

I hear a lot of “avatars aren’t worth $20+, avatars should be free” etc. I would just like to inform that Blender and Unity are not simple softwares to use. It takes creators months/years to get a decent grip and knowledge on how to use each software sufficiently. Waking up to messages of screenshots showing our work was leaked onto a leaking website or file sharing is very frustrating.

Creators love creating. For some it’s a hobby. For some it’s a main source of income. It lightens our hearts when people enjoy our work! Personally, I feel more motivated to create when I receive nice compliments. When customers go against TOS, something you all agree to when purchasing, it’s a setback.

Some things you can do to ensure no file share:

If you want to edit the avatar you have purchased but only your friend knows how and wants you to send the package, don’t! I suggest getting in a call and then teaching you through screenshare!
Just because your friend “reallyyyyy wants it” and “doesn’t have the money right now” doesn’t mean you hand it out!
Simply keeping the file on your computer only!

VRChat implemented the anti-cheat system as a way to help with ripping and leaking as well.

I will remind again that everytime you purchase or download a product, you agree to each creator’s Terms of Use/TOS. Going against can result in legal action.

Please support creators and purchase their product instead of stealing! We appreciate it more than you know.
